Testing
Many clients come to me seeking answers for their ill health. Mostly having gone down the conventional medical route and still struggling to resolve their health issues or looking to find a holistic and natural approach to healing. The ultimate goal is to resolve the symptoms but to also get to the root cause of the issue. To find out where the body is out of balance and how to heal it.
This is very much a holistic approach, treating the whole person. Every symptom is a messenger and sometimes they join together to create a conversation. I work very intuitively and see the client through the Ayurvedic lens, that each person has an individual constitution that needs to be brought into balance but also offer a number of scientifically proven tests to help seek deeper answers in the biology of the body. I am a Registered Practitioner and can facilitate testing through Regenerus Labs and these are at an additional cost.
I may recommend one or more of these tests but they are not compulsory. Here is a selection of what I can facilitate in terms of testing:
Doctors Data offers a number of GI 360 Gastrointestinal testing and offers a comprehensive stool profile using PCR technology, culture, and microscopy to detect pathogens, viruses, parasites, and bacteria linked to chronic gastrointestinal symptoms. It also evaluates digestion, inflammation, immunology, short-chain fatty acids, and intestinal health markers like beta-glucuronidase.
These stool tests would be recommended if you have chronic digestive issues, inflammation or autoimmune conditions.
SIBO
SIBO stands for Small Intestinal bacterial Overgrowth and is the most common cause of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) (60-70%). It is the the presence of non-pathogenic bacteria in the small intestine, where it should not be. I would recommend a SIBO test if a client presents gastric symptoms such as diarrhoea, constipation, bloating, cramping, nausea, reflux, flatulence and belching.
FOOD INTOLERANCE
This blood test from Regenerus Labs assesses 190 FOODS to total IgG antibodies. Including a wide range of foods, common in the Western, Asian, and Mediterranean diets. It also assess candida and yeast markers.
I would recommend this test to assess if there are any foods triggering a stress reaction to the body which could contribute to digestive issues, skin problems and inflammation. It would be used to guide an elimination diet.
NUTRIENT PROFILE
The Great Plains Organic Acid Test run by Regenerus Labs includes 76 urinary metabolites that provide a comprehensive snapshot of a patient’s overall health and is useful for discovering underlying causes for chronic illness.
It includes biomarkers for:
• Intestinal Microbial Overgrowth
• Oxalate Metabolites
• Glycolytic Cycle Metabolites
• Mitochondrial Makers (Kreb Cycle)
• Neurotransmitter Metabolites
• Folate Metabolism
• Ketone and Fatty Acid Oxidation
• Nutritional Markers
• Indicators of Detoxification
• Amino Acid Metabolites
This urine test would be recommended to a client with complicated and chronic health problems such as:
• GI conditions – IBS, Dysbiosis/Yeast
• Chronic Fatigue/ Fibromyalgia
• Autism/AD(H) D/ Asperger Syndrome
• Mental health
• Low energy
• Depression/ Stress/Anxiety
• Eating disorders
• Cognitive decline
• Nutrient deficiencies
• Headaches/Migraines
• Joint/muscle pain
• Brain Fog
• Skin issues
HORMONE PANEL
DUTCH Complete hormone panel run by Regernerus Labs provides a comprehensive assessment of 35 different sex and adrenal hormones, including oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA and cortisol along with their metabolites. It also measures daily free cortisol and cortisone patterns, the oxidative stress marker 8-OHdG, melatonin and nine organic acids including markers for vitamin B12, B6, biotin, glutathione, dopamine, norepinephrine/epinephrine, neuroinflammation and tryptophan.
DUTCH Complete urine test can help identify the root causes of sex hormone and adrenal imbalances. It can provide insights into conditions such as premenstrual syndrome, PMDD, PCOS, menopause, infertility, weight gain, fatigue, low libido, sleep issues and mood disorders in women. Additionally, the test can be used to gather baseline measurements for the administration and monitoring of hormone replacement therapy.
THYROID ADVANCED PANEL
Thyroid Advanced serves as the most comprehensive panel for detecting those patients that are suffering from thyroid dysfunction, in particular auto-immune thyroid conditions including Graves’ disease.
Thyroid Advanced includes TSH, T4, T3, fT4, fT3, TPO Ab, TG Ab, T uptake and rT3 and TSH Receptor Antibodies (TRAb). It is also useful for monitoring thyroid function.
This Thyroid Advanced blood test run by Regenerus Labs would be recommended for symptoms such as:
Fatigue
Depression
Feeling cold
Constipation
Poor skin
PMS, dysmenorrhoea
Poor fertility
Weight gain or inability to lose weight
Fluid retention
Anxiety and mood disorders
Decreased memory, concentration, or brain fog
Muscle and joint pain
Low libido
Hyperthyroid symptoms include:
Nervousness
Anxiety
Mood swings and irritability
Hyperactivity or feeling tired all the time
Palpitations
Sensitivity to heat
The Vaginal Microbiome Shotgun Test provides a comprehensive analysis of bacteria, fungi and viruses in the vaginal environment, crucial for reproductive and overall health. Using advanced shotgun sequencing, it examines a vaginal swab sample to detect any microbe that may be present, including beneficial bacteria and those linked to infections. It reports on microorganisms associated with bacterial vaginosis, fungal/yeast infections, aerobic and cytolytic vaginitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, fertility issues, pregnancy complications, and menopause-related concerns. Only detected microbes are reported, focusing on the balance between protective and potentially harmful species. This test offers insight into vaginal health, helping identify possible causes of symptoms, recurrent infections and risk of associated diseases and guiding lifestyle adjustments or further medical advice.
People who might choose to use this test include people that may have:
Chronic urinary tract disorders
UTI/Urinary tract infections
Urinary tract disorders
Cystitis
Bladder infection
Kidney infection
Interstitial cystitis
Urinary urgency
Urinary incontinence
TOXIC METALS
The Urine Toxic Metals Test from Regenerus Labs can be used to evaluate exposure to potentially toxic elements. I would consider testing for heavy metals in the case of:
Alopecia
Bone Density
Depression
Dermatitis
Fatigue
Immune Function
Inflammation
Kidney Function
Nutritional Deficiencies
Parkinson's-like Symptoms
